OK, it's time for me to admit that I'm a terrible blogger. I have been quite busy but pretty much forgot about it until someone replied to my last blog. Oops!
I must say that there isn't much exciting going on in the world of Bodle. I'm trying to drink less alcohol, drink less coffee, exercise more and eat healthy. I'm trying to watch less TV, listen to more music and read something everyday. And I'm still working like a crazy woman.
I'm nearly done with "A prayer for Owen Meany". It is brilliant and oddly timely given the parallels between Reagan's scandalous and deceitful presidency (remember the Iran Contra and all the lies?) and the current politics. I find it awesome (not in the slang way but truly awesome).
I also attempted to finish a non-fiction book about Islam. I knew nothing about Islam or Muslim traditions. Its origins are similar to those of any peace loving religion that was sparked by the ideas of a young, compassionate and intelligent "prophet". But like any other religion it has been molded and manipulated by man to suit his own needs. I couldn't finish the book, it was sorely overdue at the library.
It's hard to project the true cost of a wedding reception. It's hard to say how much more $ do we need to save? Who is really going to come and who isn't? How much will flowers really cost (we're doing the centerpieces and bouquets ourselves) and how much budget do I give my "mother-in-law" and her enthusiastic sisters?!
So there it is in a nutshell. Thank goodness for allergy medicine, P and the OCCASIONAL glass or red wine!
