i can't believe that the House of Representatives is actually looking at a bill to amend the constitution to state that marriage is defined as the union between a man and a woman only.

the divorce rate of "marriages" between a man and a woman is exceeding 50%. and of those how many people have children that get caught in the cross fire.

what is marriage really? a respectful, loving relationship between two individuals. two individuals who attempt to make a life together because they are partners, support one another and have a deep emotional connection. two individuals who may or may not be just a man and a woman, two people who are in love.

besides that we have basic human rights and what about republicans love of strength of the states and not of the federal government. that's flown right out the window with the reign of george w bush.

the majority is not always right which we've seen over and over again through history.

bottom line the majority should not make a decision on minority's rights. what if women decided that men shouldn't vote anymore because women compose over 50% of the united states' population?

regardless of how you might feel about homosexuals getting married you have no rights over that decision and the financial that follow should not be exclusive to heterosexuals. particularly when we have this ongoing war to protect all the rights that the u.s. holds so dear.
