John Kerry has chosen not to run for President in 2008. I agree this decision may have been made based on low poll numbers and waning support. However, I feel that Kerry is fulfilling the true role of a Senator.
Instead of wasting the next year and a half campaiging, he will be spending his time in office working on things that his constituency is concerned about (as well as his own passion about Iraq).
Those many democratic congressmen that are launching a campaign will work on things that ALL Americans are concerned with, but in such a limited fashion. They will be traveling and focusing their efforts on getting monetary support as well as votes.
I know it seems these things should go hand in hand, right? If they're trying to get our votes, won't they work on things we're worried about? But often campaign promises are empty, and larger than what can truly be accomplished. They're also based on the future. What I will do when I become President? Not what I am doing right now.
So kudos to Kerry, even if I don't always agree with his decisions. At least he is going to do the job he was voted in to do.

yeah, it was a very wise decision. i think his political mileage as a presidential candidate was squashed by that unfortunate "joke." i'm sure it was a difficult decision.
