Minnesota

This past weekend P and I travelled to Minnesota. We had the fortune of travelling with P's cousin as well. But there was a bit of confusion at the airport so early in the morning. We all share the same last name now and M's middle name is my first name and they just didn't get it! They kept referring to M as me and it took them a good 20 min to get our luggage tags printed out, sorted out and placed on our luggage. Why, oh why, oh why.

I got to visit Maiden Rock, Wisconsin. FINALLY! (You see, M's father was convinced I had been there before, but he was oh so wrong). P's grandfather was born in Maiden Rock and still owns a big, creaky old house there. It is beautiful. We toured the small little town, went to the cemetery and to the house. Great fun.

The overall purpose of the trip was quite sad actually. P's grandmother passed away and we attended a memorial service for her. It was sweet and touching. People shared great memories of D.H. and I learned a lot about her that I did not know. I got to see a side of P's family that is reserved for these sentimental times (like weddings) that is lovely. It was sad and wonderful at the same time. I'm so glad I could be there.
