I'm trying to read more--there are so many great books in the world. They offer this great exposure to various types of folks you might not otherwise encounter. I love to read--ask my parents. I would hide under the covers with a flashlight even after begging for just one more chapter, just one more page. I was ravenous for books as a child.
As an adult life gets busier, relaxation takes on new form sometimes--like having a glass of wine and watching a movie or just going to bed earlier! But I still love to read.
I find myself, at times, narrating my own life in the voice of the latest author. I will actually think to myself in a particular prose or angle. Almost always I am imitating the most recent book I'm reading. Not on purpose. But when I catch myself I kind of giggle and then keep going. It's fun to think of your life on paper, as if it were fiction. How and when would it get interesting (to others).
As we all know, regular life is busy, fascinating at times, but mostly a series of routines and activities that don't offer peculiarity. (Which is good for most humans, we crave structure!). But seriously, picture yourself as a character in a great novel. How would you act or think if you knew others were reading about each moment? Would you be more purposeful or enjoy yourself a little more?
Find your author's voice every now and again and see what happens!
