Dust off the bicycle

I have always wanted to be a regular cyclist--ya know to run errands, get to work etc. I rode my bike during grad school to do just that. But when I moved to Boston my bike was stolen the first time I took it somewhere. It was locked up outside of Paul's apartment.

We saw a really scary horror movie the night before and didn't want to be alone so we went right to my place and left the bike. Big mistake!

I replaced the bike about a year later but hardly used it. It can be scary to ride your bike here, especially if you haven't ridden in traffic for a while.

Over the past two weeks I have managed to ride to work, to and fro Harvard square and around Somerville. I haven't braved crossing the river yet, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to do that.

I got a new bike seat (heavenly!), headlight and flashing red light for the back. I LOVE IT!

And yes, I wear my helmet religiously. It would be tough not to as I work with Traumatic Brain Injury patients daily including one patient who was injured while cycling.

Love it!

Great exercise and you probably get there in a little speedier fashion.

It's a good thing you wear your helmet. Think how upset your mother would be if she found out you didn't!

Hugs,
Mom

I used to ride down to the Esplanade--you can cut through parking lots, etc, to get down to the Museum of Science without having to take the McGrath. Then I would ride along the river until about the Harvard Med school and cut back up through Cambridge. Great ride, and you can avoid most of the traffic. Of course, that was before we moved. My bike got stolen here--right out of our garage in our old house!

BTW--thanks for coming out last night. it was great to see you guys again!
