Laundry

I am 32 years old and I still take my laundry to my parents' (in-laws) house anytime I visit. Pitiful, I know.  But for those of you who have your own washers and dryers perhaps you have forgotten what it is like to drag everything to the laundry mat.

Pros:  You get it all done at once, you don't have to fix or replace a broken machine or ever clean out the lint filter

Cons: You lose a night or an afternoon, you have to lug the laundry down and then up 30 stairs and you have to put away two weeks worth of laundry at once

We used to drop off our laundry and have them wash, dry and fold it for us.  But they definitely shrank some items and they don't take things out for you that need to be line dried.  And, admittedly, it's not really a wise financial move.  Only $10 more/wash BUT that adds up quick.  Man, it was awesome though!

So when we head to Rochester for Thanksgiving we will take our laundry along for the ride.

I must admit, having a washer and dryer is really one of the best purchases we have made over the years. Although to have someone else do the laundry is quite a nice perk - especially since I do laundry for a family of 5...at least 10 loads per week! I suppose either way has it's downfall.

oh, yeah. You know, we're in the same boat...and the cons easily out way the pros. In fact, I wouldn't even call those pros pros. The amount of $$ we've spent at the landromat in nearly a decade could pay for several washers and dryers now. After 8 years of living in good, OLD Boston, I now consider washer & dryer units to be an exotic luxury. (sigh)

Happy early Thanksgiving!

We'd do the same thing if we didn't have a washer and dryer; it's not pitiful at all. Even after five years, I am still grateful every time I do laundry that no one else has to see our sorry-looking sweat socks.

Hey, I actually pack my dirty laundry, fly to Minnesota, and wash my dirthy things there. That is much worse.

Ours came with our house, and may be nearly as old as our house, too. The dryer only had two settings: Air/Fluff and Raging Inferno of Satan's Breath. I line dry most of my work clothes to keep them nice longer. I would love to replace the washer (and all our other appliances for that matter) with more energy/water efficient units. laundromat washers and dryers are BIG and front loading unlike our dinosaurs. I have a feeling that our water bill here in Denver could be significantly lower. yep, pros and cons...

Have a GREAT trip, happy T-Day!
