What I can tell you is what I learned about myself:
*I can eat the same food for every meal for two weeks but I get sick of those fancy protein bars
*I don't read nearly enough at home and I really should
Read these books:
The Piano Teacher
The Time Traveler's Wife
Anansi Boys
*I can tolerate a significant amount of sweating, but really prefer to shower at least once a day
*I am not as socially awkward as I presumed myself to be and can get along with many different types of people (perhaps this is a survival skill learned from moving every two years with the Air Force), too bad it took me this long to realize it
*I thought I was addicted to the internet, but in fact can live with checking my e-mail every other day
*I don't know that I could go two weeks without actually talking to P (thank goodness for donated satellite phone service)
*I definitely want to do this kind of work again

I also learned that my skin does not like DEET in lotion or "baby wipe" form. My skin gets firey hot and red and gross. I must have faith in my malaria prevention meds.
That really is very noble of you to go down there!
